Introduction to Sand & Finish Hardwood

JOB-SITE FINISHED HARDWOOD FLOORING

If you want a custom stained hardwood floor, or a wood floor to match existing trim, then a job-site finish is your answer.

Job-site finish means you start with a bare (unfinished) hardwood floor and then the floor is sanded, stained, and finished in the home.

The main advantage of a job-site finish is that they can be customized to meet each customer’s particular tastes. Floors can be sanded smooth, wire brushed, hand scraped or distressed to whatever extent desired. The texture, in addition to the type of wood chosen and the stain color used allow for nearly endless possibilities and the ability to create a truly custom floor.

Although the sanding process is very involved, we offer full dust containment which utilizes high powered filtered vacuums on the sanders which keep the dust to an absolute minimum.

FINISHING METHODS INCLUDE:

  • Water Based Urethane – Water is used as part of the chemical make-up of the polyurethane finish.

  • Solvent Based Urethane – Oil is used as part of the chemical make-up of the polyurethane finish.
